The EU will invest EUR 707 million ESF+ funds in Sweden to promote a more social and inclusive society thanks to investments in lifelong learning, upskilling of people in all stages of their life and enhancing employment opportunities.
Measures will range from help to school-age children to traineeships for young people and vocational education and training to help people find jobs and advance in their careers. Dedicated support will be provided to children and adults at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
In the northern, sparsely populated areas, funding will focus to strengthen the capacity of local and regional labour market institutions and employment services.
These ESF+ investments will support Sweden to achieve its 2030 targets under the European Pillar of Social Rights by raising the employment rate to 82%, adult participation in education and training to 60% and by reducing the number of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion by nearly 15 000.
Sweden implements the ESF+ through a single national programme.
