The ‘Founding Company Adlershof’ works to help individuals who have suffered serious injury by producing digitally customised, 3D healing casts.
3D-Medico's goal is to develop and offer a digital and user-friendly fitting and production system for individual, gentle, and environmentally friendly orthotics from 3D scanning, 3D modeling, to 3D printing for medical professionals.
The innovative solution ensures orthopedic technicians do not need any additional equipment and can apply the 3D scan technology using a smartphone with only an HD-capable camera. The bespoke scan software automatically calculates a digital model of the body part. The technician can adjust the casts with user-friendly, step-by-step software to the body part.
The casts can then be produced using a widely available FFF 3D printer, with the end result being both recyclable and suitable for every day. Skin irritations and inflammations are considered as part of the design, which includes comfortable attachments and effective ventilation. The orthotics are also made with cost-effectiveness in mind, and are therefore available to most people, regardless of socioeconomic situation.
Tino Jacobi, CEO of Medico, is extremely proud of the product, stating, ‘With Gründungswerkstatt Adlershof – funded by ESF and the Land of Berlin – we had the chance to start our project and develop our first software prototype. The program was very helpful to grow our network. Along with the other founders, we’ve proven this business model works.’
