A project in northern Portugal is bringing communities together and improving social cohesion through art, theatre, music and dance.
The Stages for Inclusion project is being run by Espaço t, an organisation that develops people's artistic, personal and social skills. The Stages for Inclusion project is particularly focused on socially vulnerable people in the areas of Porto, Trofa and Maia, encouraging them to become more involved in the arts, and to create artistic works together.
Over three years, Stages for Inclusion will be running more than 300 activities for people in schools, community centres, social clubs and other groups based in and around the target areas. In 2020 the participants will be presenting their artistic works to the public, including theatre shows, gallery displays and concerts.
