The 'Supporting People With Disabilities' project, from Hungary's National Institute for Social Policy, has helped nearly 14 500 people into work, with a range of tailored employment support.
Chronic illness and disability can make finding work much more difficult. That's why, with the help of the European Social Fund (ESF), Hungary's National Institute for Social Policy created a project offering tailored employment support for people with disabilities.
Since its launch in 2015, the ‘Supporting People with Disabilities’ project has operated a network of advisers in 42 locations across the country. They provide a range of bespoke coaching and support activities for people with health conditions or disabilities – aiming to find sustainable, worthwhile employment that is tailored to their specific needs.
‘Supporting People With Disabilities’ also collaborates with local businesses to promote the employment of people with chronic health conditions. The project aims to make meeting the needs of both employer and employee as easy as possible by providing a range of planning and implementation support.
A spokesperson from Kabafrost Kft. a food processing enterprise, stated, ‘The partnership provided by the project helped in the selection of workers, in the identification of their skills and abilities, and in the identification of solutions. Through follow-up services and counselling, they support the long-term employment of our workers with disabilities.’
The project has been very successful – nearly 14,500 people have found meaningful work through participating in the project.
Gábor Molnár says, 'I love my job, my confidence is back and I have something to get up for in the morning. I am happy that I have achieved my goal and that I have been able to take up a job.'
