Osuma: inspiring competitors to become co-operators

Participants
Katri Halonen, 2017
In Finnish, ‘Osuma’ means ‘hit’: hitting the target and being successful. It's the perfect name for a project set up to bring together professionals who have applied for EU funding, and to help their projects ‘hit the target’.

Osuma, which is co-ordinating Skills for Inclusion ESF projects in Finland, is led by the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. However, Osuma’s success relies heavily on its networks of educational institutions and organisations, all of which are supporting young people through their studies and into working life. Osuma encourages those running the projects to meet up and learn together: becoming co-operators rather than competitors.

The aim of Skills for Inclusion is to prevent exclusion of young people, whilst promoting their wellbeing in everyday life. By encouraging collaboration, and delivering fun and inspiring workshops and seminars to project managers, Osuma is helping them to find new ways to support and motivate young people.
