Social support houses needed support as soon as possible. As part of the Regional Operational Program for the Silesia Voivodship in 2014-2020, the European Social Fund (ESF) was specifically earmarked for the implementation of the project worth over PLN 13 million.
As part of the project, support is provided to seniors, those with disabilities and the chronically ill staying in nursing homes, 24-hour care facilities, care and treatment facilities. and care and nursing facilities from all over the Śląskie Voivodeship. Adequate protection for the staff is provided to those institutions who care about the health and life of those under care.
The project includes about:
• 106 Nursing Homes
• 55 facilities providing 24-hour care for the elderly, disabled and chronically ill
• 56 health care entities
The project allows the employment of new employees - specialists in the care industry, as well as the purchase of hygiene and personal protection for employees (i.e. masks, helmets, gloves, aprons). It also allows the retrofitting of facilities with the equipment necessary to combat COVID-19 (i.e. locks, isolation rooms, beds, oxygen concentrators).
In this time of fighting the threat, there are negative emotions appearing among people exposed to the disease. Therefore, as part of this project, intervention and psychological assistance was organized for seniors from the Śląskie Voivodeship, launched as part of the "SENIOR-fon" campaign. This covers counselling, intervention, coordination of assistance, supportive conversation and psychological help.
The phone has been operating since March 30 and we record approximately 100 calls per week.
