A German-led mobility project has given thousands of Europeans the opportunity to gain skills and confidence by working abroad.

Launched in 2013, The ESF Learning Network on Transnational Mobility Measures for Disadvantaged Youth and Young Adults (TLN Mobility) aims to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds build a real chance at finding meaningful work. Through a partnership of 15 Member States, the programme builds participants’ skills, knowledge and capacity through work-related experiences abroad.  Germany leads the project, working directly with the European Commission.

With a total budget of €105.3 million - €72 million from the European Social Fund (ESF) - the programme has thus far allowed 6 820 individuals to pursue employment abroad. Currently, mobility programmes under the TLN Mobility scheme are implemented in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Slovenia, Trento and the Spanish region of Catalonia - with Andalucia planning to launch their project in 2021.

The TLN Mobility Network has also organised two Europe-wide events :

The COVID-19 crisis has led to a temporarly downturn in mobility projects, with mobilities under the TLN were suspended in spring. However, it is expected the programme will resume mobilities in the first or second quarter of 2021.

Further information on these programmes can be obtained at the TLN Mobility Website  section national and regional calls.
