Community Centres: a social care network for everyone

ESFGreece, 2017
Greek citizens can now access free support for all aspects of social, working and family life from almost anywhere in the country, thanks to an ambitious network of Community Centres.

The Hellenic Ministry of Labour, in cooperation with the ESF Coordination and Monitoring Authority (EYSEKT), has designed Community Centres to offer better access to services for everyone, including those in marginal communities. The centres give advice on the government allowances people are entitled to, and helps citizens to access the range of social support available.

So far, there are 244 Community Centres in 13 regions of Greece, including mobile units in mountainous and island municipalities, meaning that people can access a centre from almost anywhere in the country. For Roma communities and immigrant and refugee populations, there are branches offering specialist support, aimed at reducing social isolation and improving housing conditions.
