Un abri qui sauve des vies (A shelter that saves lives)

Un abri qui sauve des vies is a French non-profit organisation that facilitates emergency hosting for people fleeing domestic and family violence — mainly women and their children. The association recruits, trains, and supports a network of volunteer hosts (called abritant·e·s) who open their homes temporarily to victims in need of shelter.

We closely collaborate with professional support services (social workers, associations, police, health
professionals, etc.) who refer victims to us. Our role is to make emergency hosting possible: we organise
safe placements, coordinate logistics, ensure proper matching between hosts and guests, and remain in
close contact with both during the stay. We also assist victims with day-to-day matters and help them
navigate administrative steps, without replacing professional accompaniment.
Our model builds on citizen solidarity and bridges a critical gap in emergency shelter availability, especially in areas where traditional structures are overloaded or absent.
