ActionAid Italia is a non-governmental organization, part of the ActionAid International federation, working to eradicate poverty and inequalities in more than 70 countries all over the world. The ActionAid Italia 2018-2028 strategy sets the goal of improving the quality of democracy by enabling people and communities, especially vulnerable ones, such as migrants and refugees, to become actors of change.

ActionAid works to empower third-country nationals to advocate for their rights, to participate to democracy, and to ensure that they are not discriminated on the basis of their origin. The organisation is committed to achieve such objectives by improving migrants’ awareness of their rights and the power they have to participate in public life, working with national and local authorities to ensure the respect of migrants’ rights and provision of tailored services, and changing citizens’ negative perception of migration through education, awareness-raising and campaigning activities for the general public.

Through projects such as SWEET in response to the Ukrainian crisis, BRIGHT, YALLA, SEEDS, This must Be The Place and MigrantVoicesHeard, ActionAid has been building sound partnerships with diaspora communities, local authorities, and further CSOs and have been training migrant men and women to become community leaders to ultimately contribute to shape policies and create/improve new/existing existing services.
