Problem addressed
Public litter is one of the major concerns and very hard to tackle. Many volunteers want to help cities and villages to clean the neighbourhood. They needed a tool to make plogging more efficient and not feeling a lonely knight.
Innovative solution
By keeping track of the cleaned streets in real time, we nudge volunteers to plog efficiently. WePlog monitors all kinds of data in order to help cities and villages to manage and adjust their litter policy.
Thanks to WePlog there is social interaction between ploggers. WePlog gives responsability to volunteers.
WePlog offers a treasure hunt as an incentive for ploggers to clean specific areas.
Key results and benefits
To measure is to know. Measuring cleanliness is the start of clean neighbourhoods.
Over 10.000 WePloggers regularly clean their neighbourhood. WePlog is a fully scalable platform and can be used in many countries from the north of Sweden to the south of Portugal.
Some key figures since the big bang of WePlog (Dec. 2019)
More than 180.000 kgs. has been removed from the streets.
About 200.000 km. have been cleaned
Potential for mainstreaming
WePlogging has the potential to become mainstream for a few reasons:
Environmental Benefits: People are increasingly aware of environmental issues and looking for ways to make a difference. Plogging combines exercise with cleaning up litter, offering a way to be active while contributing to a cleaner environment.
Accessibility: Plogging requires minimal equipment (gloves and bags can be easily obtained) and can be done almost anywhere during a jog or walk. This ease of entry makes it accessible to a wide range of people.
Community Aspect: Group plogging events can create a sense of community and shared purpose. Social media can further amplify this by allowing people to share their plogging experiences and motivate others.
