The overall objective of the project is to develop innovative solutions for managing the increasing amount of textile waste that municipalities will be responsible for from 2025 onwards. At the same time, it focuses on skills development and recycling training for long-term unemployed people aged between 21 and 59, with good language skills in English or Swedish. Through collaboration with various partners, the project aims to increase the workforce in the textile industry and municipalities, while supporting cooperative and non-profit organizations in circular textile activities. The project is divided into seven main categories ranging from the establishment of a steering group and recruitment of participants to education, training and dissemination activities. A key element is to activate participants far from the labor market through various group activities and intensive courses. Through cooperation with universities, cooperative activities and non-profit organizations, support and skills development in circular activities in the field of textiles is also planned. The project also includes design students from the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås to create suitable work clothes and promote a positive group dynamic among the project participants. Recruitment of participants is done gradually to adapt the content to the experience of previous groups and to increase the chances of employment for the participants. Circular innovation is at the heart of the project, which explores methods to reduce, reuse and recycle textile waste in view of the planned EU regulations for 2025. The project also aims for social inclusion by offering meaningful tasks to the long-term unemployed and implementing intensive courses to make them employable.
