The main project objective was to increase Lithuanian businesses' competitive advantage, social responsibility, and added value through design solutions based on the principles of innovation, the digital and circular economy, using the cultural and creative sectors affected by the pandemic.
The project Design Wings involved companies from all over Lithuania, for which design solutions based on the principles of innovation and the digital and circular economy are developed by emerging design professionals and supervised by experienced mentors — highly skilled design experts. Participating companies develop design solutions for a product, for communication design (images, messages), or processes, services and interfaces.
This project connected various people – business people, designers, and mentors – with different skills and experiences from all parts of the country. One of the benefits is that Lithuanians who graduated abroad were welcomed to go back home and work for a local business. All the project participants, whom we define as the community, have the possibility to communicate with one another online and during live meetings where they share their experiences and ideas. The work regarding design solutions is carried out on an inclusion basis: designers can receive assistance or advice from professionals from different design branches (graphic, product, service, fashion, or UX) in case it is necessary. Design solutions correspond to the principles of circular economy and digitalization, i.e., they are environment-friendly and do not cause consequences for future generations and nature. The fundamental Design Thinking principles are constantly in use.
