In Sardinia, Italy, thousands of jobseekers have been taking training courses designed to help them find work in Europe's green and blue economy.
Creating and growing a sustainable, or "green", economy is a priority for the EU. Green sectors include eco-design, the protection of natural habitat, recycling, and the provision of clean air and water; related “blue” sectors include coastal tourism, aquaculture, marine energy and biotechnology.
To support the aims of the EU, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia – through its Labour, VET, Cooperation and Social Security Directorate General – has put together a huge range of new courses. All are directly related to roles within the green and blue economy, and training is provided by accredited vocational education and training (VET) professionals.
