A Swedish project is ensuring the health and rights of vulnerable EU citizens are protected.
Financed by the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), ‘Pentru Tine’ – meaning ‘For You’ in Romanian – provides health and social information to Romanian citizens living in Sweden. The project focuses on educating individuals on their rights and responsibilities – both as Swedish residents and EU citizens – and offers vital information on mental and physical health.
Local outreach services provide support in Eskilstuna, Linköping, Stockholm and Uppsala. The teams consist of health communicators – as well as staff with specific language skills, cultural competence and social work experience.
With a goal of increasing physical health and building social inclusion, the project provides support to the particularly vulnerable – including homeless and unemployed persons – who are temporarily residing in Sweden.
