More than €11 million have been awarded to 28 ALMA (Aim-Learn-Master-Achieve) projects which are getting ready to kick off their activities, following the first Social Innovation + call for proposals. 

At the heart of ALMA projects is the belief that gaining work experience abroad, coupled with personalised guidance, can boost the prospects of disadvantaged young people. These projects have a proven track record, having already helped over 7 000 young people across the EU.

Their main goal is to foster social inclusion for young people who are currently not engaged in employment, education, or training (NEETs). 

A tailor-made approach

Project teams are now forming partnerships with organisations in various Member States, preparing for the upcoming phases.

In the next stage, each project will send at least two groups of 8-12 participants for internships in a different Member State for 2-6 months. During their stay, participants will also engage in social activities, enriching their overall experience.

After their stay, they will receive individual counselling and professional guidance. This support is designed to help them leverage their newfound skills and experiences into sustainable employment opportunities.

The success stories and best practices gained from these experiences will be shared by the project teams at a national level, spreading the benefits of these initiatives even further.
