A Swedish project is ensuring the health and rights of vulnerable EU citizens are protected.

Sponsored by the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), ‘Pentru Tine’ – meaning ‘For You’ in Romanian – provides health and social information to Romanian citizens living in Sweden.    

The project focuses on educating individuals on their rights and responsibilities – both as Swedish residents and EU citizens – and offers vital information on mental, physical and sexual health. Local outreach services provide support in Eskilstuna, Linköping, Stockholm and Uppsala. The teams consist of health communicators – as well as staff with specific language skills, cultural competence and social work experience.  With a goal of increasing physical health and building social inclusion, the project provides support to the particularly vulnerable – including homeless and unemployed persons – who are temporarily residing in Sweden.

The goal is to provide these essential services for 1700 of the country’s most vulnerable individuals. It is hoped this increased awareness will help them to better participate in both Swedish and wider EU society.
