The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to digitalise education equipment and resources – as well as the need to train teachers and families to support students in this new era.
The European Social fund has therefore invested €96 million in Portuguese public schools as a part of the first phase of the implementation of the Digital Transition of Education Plan. With the aim of providing equal opportunities and quality education, these funds will allow for the purchase of purchase of computers, internet connections and other digital services.
The programme will also focus on upskilling and continued digital development of teachers and learning staff. Its goals are noteworthy – projects under its umbrella aim to support 163 500 students and 79 500 teachers over the duration of the programme.
