On 16 and 17 November 2023, the European Commission is organising the second edition of the European Employment and Social Rights Forum. The two-day event, which will take place both in Brussels and online, will focus this year on the impact of artificial intelligence on the world of work.

Artificial intelligence is already changing the way we work, and in future years, many jobs are expected to be further transformed. The aim of this event is to understand how legislation such as the AI Act can help to harness the potential of this innovative technology for the benefit of all, ensuring that no one is left behind.

The Forum will also explore the future of EU funds and of cohesion policy, with a session dedicated to exploring their role in helping labour markets adapt to challenges related to skills shortages, ageing population, and the digital and green transitions. The Future of EU funds session will take place on 17 November from 15.50 to 17.20.

More than 70 speakers have confirmed their participation, including:

  • Prof. Christopher Pissarides, co-founder and co-chair of the Institute for the Future of Work, and winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economics
  • Stuart Russel, Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley
  • Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights
  • Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market
  • Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister for Eurointegration at Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The venue is already fully booked, but all sessions will be live streamed, and online participants will have the chance to engage with speakers through a series of interactive tools.

Recordings will also be available on the event website within two days of the event.
