The Empleaverde Programme of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge is an initiative of the Biodiversity Foundation to promote and improve employment, entrepreneurship and the environment.

The programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) within the framework of the Employment, Training and Education Operational Programme 2014-2020. It acts as a bridge between the employment policy and the environmental policy with the double objective of turning sustainability and environmental issues as the basis for better jobs and more competitive companies while making employees and companies key players in the protection of the environment.

Aware of the real growth opportunities offered by these sectors, the Empleaverde Programme aims to create jobs, improve employability and support the creation of companies in the green and blue economies, with a special focus on a low-carbon economy, circular economy and the Natura 2000 Network.

The Biodiversity Foundation carries out its activity through publishing calls for grants as well as through its own projects, such as the Green entrepreneurship network. The network aims at fostering business creation and consolidation in the environmental sector, as well as directing investments towards sustainable economic activities. It gathers entrepreneurs, investors and people with a business project who are active (or willing to be) in the new sustainable economy. Green entrepreneurship offers an online networking platform, it provides trainings and guidance programmes, organises networking events and disseminates information. It creates synergies with existing initiatives that support entrepreneurship to make them benefit to people who want to develop a green project. With over 8 500 members on its online platform and nearly 100 000 followers on its social media profiles, Green entrepreneurship is the largest green economy network in Spain.
