Easing the transition from school to work

Participants
ÖJAB, 2019
For some young people, further academic education simply isn't the right choice after school – but they also lack the qualifications to start work or vocational training. For those facing this dilemma in Austria, the Vocational School can help.

The Vocational School is a project from social organisation ÖJAB (Österreichische JungArbeiterBewegung, or the Austrian Young Workers' Movement). It offers vocational training for young adults aged between 15 and 21 who have completed their compulsory education, and supports them to explore their options.

Training modules on offer at Vocational School allow students to try out activities in a range of sectors – including catering and gastronomy, office administration, hospitality, practical trades and handicrafts – and then to choose a specialism.
