A project from the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health has been encouraging young people to work together in ways which don't just improve their overall wellbeing but help them to integrate into working life.
The project, called Combo, was created to promote inclusion for people in vocational upper secondary institutions.
The participants created and led their own activities, which included physical activity and cultural hobby groups, and local sports and cultural events. By encouraging them to work with others, and making sure that the types of activities crossed over – for example, creating theatre groups in colleges, or professional libraries in youth clubs – Combo encouraged diversity and co-operation: useful skills for working life.
