Problem addressed

The main problem this project seeks to address is
precisely the lack of systematic support to create effective, lasting and value-creating social innovations in
the implementation of ESF+. These social innovations can in turn contribute to solving the complex societal
challenges linked to unemployment, ill health and segregation.

Innovative solution

To establish a National Competence Centre for social innovation that connects the dots within the Swedish ecosystem for social innovation. 

Key results and benefits

• The current competence center for social innovation has been further developed and strengthened, which
leads to more effective implementation of the ESF+.
• Active cross-sectoral collaboration on the implementation of ESF+ has strengthened the national
ecosystem for social innovation in Sweden.
• The ESF projects' solutions and outcomes meet challenges and needs concerning social inclusion, labour
market, education, capacity building within the ESF's target areas of establishment and re-entry into the
labor market as well as economic vulnerability.
• Knowledge input, active collaboration and inclusion around the implementation of the support function
have promoted equality, equal treatment and non-discrimination in the implementation of ESF projects, as
well as improved the employability and development potential of disadvantaged groups on the labour
market.
• A support function has been established that lives on after the end of the project.

Potential for mainstreaming

The logic in this project can be implemented in regional and local level throughout Sweden.
