National Competence Centre for Social Innovation

The lack of a support system for effective, lasting and value-creating social innovations in the
implementation of ESF+ may lead to impediments for individuals to enter the labour market due to "failed"
innovative and effective solutions. Another consequence may be that the implementation of ESF+ is carried
out less effectively, and that fewer social innovations are developed, thus affecting the conditions for
reaching the goals of the programme. The potential of the ESF projects is not fulfilled. The actors of the
ecosystem are less likely to contribute to effective, lasting and value-creating solutions in the
implementation of ESF+. This also means that the ecosystem, in turn, does not make use of results and
experiences from ESF projects.
The project proposed solution to the main problem is to continue the establishment of a national
competence center for social innovation in Sweden. This contributes to the overall project goal – that a
support function has been established that promotes effective, lasting and value-creating social innovations
on work life-related societal challenges in the implementation of ESF+.
