The European Commission has launched the 17th edition of the REGIOSTARS awards, a competition that rewards the best projects financed under the EU’s cohesion policy.

Beneficiaries of all cohesion policy-funded projects, including those from the European Social Fund (Plus), are encouraged to submit their applications.

Last year, ProFem 2.0, a ESF funded centre for survivors of domestic and sexual violence from Czechia, was the winner in the category A social and inclusive Europe.

This year’s competition will be open until 31 May 2024 for projects that have already been completed, with applications invited in five thematic categories:

  • a competitive and smart Europe;
  • a green Europe;
  • a connected Europe;
  • a social and inclusive Europe;
  • a Europe closer to the Citizens.

An independent jury will choose up to 5 finalists per category, who will compete in a final round during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels in Autumn.

The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite finalist for the Public Choice Award. The award ceremony will take place in Brussels on 9 October.

Since 2008, the REGIOSTARS competition awards the best Cohesion-funded projects that demonstrate excellence and new approaches in regional development.
