ITA/ISTEC is able to host a wide range of young participants, including:
- low-skilled young people;
- economically inactive young people (NEETs);
- young people without work experience;
- early school leavers;
- young people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds;
- young migrants with legal residence/work permits;
- participants requiring additional mentoring and personalised support.
The institution can also assess, on a case-by-case basis, the possibility of hosting participants with disabilities or other specific support needs.

Framework conditions

Participants are hosted in the Lisbon metropolitan area, benefiting from a dynamic labour market and a strong network of companies, public institutions and NGOs. Work placements can be organised in areas such as information technologies, multimedia, digital marketing, project management, business administration, entrepreneurship, education and innovation. Accommodation is arranged in shared apartments or other suitable facilities. Accessibility and individual support arrangements are considered according to participants' specific needs and the availability of appropriate services.

ITA/ISTEC provides comprehensive support throughout the mobility period, including reception and orientation, accommodation coordination, placement matching, mentoring, workplace monitoring, language and intercultural support, social and cultural integration activities, individual guidance, risk management, evaluation of learning outcomes and final reporting.

ITA/ISTEC maintains an extensive network of over 100 partner organisations, including technology companies, SMEs, startups, municipalities, public institutions, NGOs, higher education institutions and vocational education providers. Through its NextGen Hub innovation and entrepreneurship centre and its long-standing collaboration with industry, the institution is able to identify high-quality work placements adapted to different participant profiles.

ITA/ISTEC has more than ten years of experience in organising work-based learning and internships within Higher Professional Technical Courses (EQF Level 5), and more than four years of experience managing compulsory internships within Bachelor's Degrees (EQF Level 6). The institution has coordinated and participated in numerous European projects promoting employability, digital skills and social inclusion, including Entrepreneurial Women in ICT (recipient of the Erasmus+ Best Practice Award 2023), VERFISUM, Escape to Your Future, EdRestart, and the Virtual Innovation Consortium (DIGITAL Europe Programme). In addition, ISTEC regularly hosts interns from other higher education institutions and cooperates with employers to facilitate labour market integration.
