ALMA Catalonia – Transnational Mobility for Young NEETs in Vulnerable Situations

b. Are you currently participating in an ALMA call funded by ESF+ or other funds?
Yes. Associació Alba is currently participating in an ALMA project funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), implemented through the Spanish National Employment System. This is our second consecutive ALMA project; we have been sending groups abroad since 2023.

c. Main target group(s):
Our primary target groups are young NEETs aged 18–29 facing multiple barriers to employment, specifically:
- Early school leavers and young people with low or no qualifications.
-Young people with no work experience.
- Young people with disabilities or mental health issues.
We specialise in accompanying young people in situations of social vulnerability, with a person-centred and rights-based approach rooted in our organisation's 30+ years of experience in social inclusion.

d. Planned group size:
6–8 participants per group.

e. Estimated period of implementation:
From April to July FLOW 1 / From August to October FLOW 2.

f. Duration of participant stays abroad:
2-3 months per stay.

g. Intended timing for participant stays
We implement two mobility flows per project cycle: Flow 1: April to July and Flow 2: August to October.
Specific dates within each period are confirmed with the receiving organisation 2–3 months in advance to ensure proper preparation of placements, accommodation, and support services.

h. Type of accommodation and support sought:
We seek receiving organisations that can provide: Supervised work-related experience placements in inclusive workplaces (ordinary companies, social enterprises, or third-sector organisations). Individual mentoring or tutoring during the stay. Shared or supported housing (shared flats, youth hostels, or host families), accessible for participants with disabilities or additional support needs. Language and cultural induction support upon arrival. Coordination with our sending team for monitoring and follow-up

Alba has been implementing transnational mobility projects since 2017 under the (TLN–Transnational Learning Network), as well as under the EaSI and ESF+ funding streams. These projects share ALMA's core objectives: improving employability, fostering autonomy, and promoting social inclusion of young people in vulnerable situations.

Yes. Associació Alba is currently participating as a receiving organisation in an ALMA project funded by ESF+. We have been hosting international groups since 2017, initially through the IDA Juventus project and subsequently through ALMA.

We are experienced in hosting young NEETs with the following profiles:
- Early school leavers and low-skilled young people
- Young people with no work experience
- Young people with disabilities (including intellectual disabilities) or mental health conditions
- Young people from disadvantaged or minority backgrounds
- Young migrants and third-country nationals with legal residency/work permits

c. Brief description of framework conditions for hosting during work-related experience:
Associació Alba is based in Tàrrega (Lleida, Catalonia, Spain), a compact and walkable town 1 hour from Barcelona and 30 minutes from Lleida, well connected by bus (ALSA) and train. Placements span diverse sectors: social and healthcare support, education, crafts, food and hospitality, business administration, communication, and leisure. Participants are housed in a fully equipped flat in the city centre, managed directly by Alba, with individual beds, shared kitchen and living areas.

d. Brief description of possible activities and support services offered:
- Individual and group meetings to monitor wellbeing and provide ongoing guidance
- Pedagogical workshops on emotional management, interculturality, teamwork and conflict resolution
- Spanish/Catalan language course and language exchange with locals
- Cultural exchange activities with European volunteers and the local community
- Sports and leisure activities through Club Alba and Qualia
- Daily meals provided through Alba's own restaurant (El Gat del Rosal, buffet) or canteen
- 24/7 emergency contact and crisis management protocol
- Regular coordination and monitoring with the sending organisation throughout the stay

e. Availability for hosting:
Groups can be hosted between January–June and September–December. We typically host one group per semester, with stays of 2 to 6 months.

f. Restrictions / additional comments:
Preferred group size: 6–12 participants
Participants must hold valid EU travel documents or legal residence permits. Some placements may require basic Spanish; language needs should be communicated in advance. Participants with complex support needs are welcome; a pre-arrival assessment is recommended to ensure appropriate support planning. The local language is Catalan, though Spanish is universally spoken.

Associació Alba maintains an active network of partners in the Tàrrega and Catalonia area, including local enterprises and social economy organisations, Caritas (work integration), local schools and VET providers (public school, language school, theatre and arts schools), cultural institutions (library, museum), leisure and sports organisations (Club Alba, Qualia), and Alba's own social and healthcare services.
