Rotterdam is rich. Rich in culture, history, ideas and financial resources. Rotterdam is a beautiful city, with a rich variety of cultures and high-profile architecture. Rich in history and culture. The place to be, according to The Rough Guide and the New York Times. But not for everyone.
More and more fellow citizens live in social and financial poverty. 25% of Rotterdam households are not financially stable. That percentage is both unnecessary and unacceptable.
Together with experts by experience and partners, Warm Rotterdam develops helpful approaches, such as the basic shopping list, the Tobia (Temporary Bridging Loan for Citizens in Poverty), Warm Consultation Hours and the Warm Debt Collection Quality Mark.
The goals of Warm Rotterdam are:
- Gathering and sharing knowledge, experience and signals from experts by experience and partners;
- increasing awareness in the city about the poverty and debt problem, and the urgency thereof;
- influencing policy and instrument development regarding the tackling of poverty and debt problems;
- Increasing the visibility and strength of communities
- Increasing the visibility and strength of informal help and support networks of experts by experience
- contribute to achieving the ambitions of the coalition agreement regarding the approach to money concerns, poverty and debt
