ToNite

Yalla Aurora project at Giardino Pellegrino - ToNite
City services and public spaces are designed mainly for daily activities. However, according to trends in urban agglomeration and changes in lifestyles, cities are more and more lived by night.
ToNite is a EU project - funded by the UIA programme - on urban inclusion to improve quality of life and safety perception during the night-time in the Dora river area in Torino. It develops multidisciplinary and co-designed solutions to manage public spaces and improve the safety perception at nighttime, to better tackle problems deriving from a perception of insecurity.
The project worked on both physical and immaterial actions:
1,5 M € invested in the physical regeneration of 3 target areas (viale Mai, Giardino Pellegrino, Dora riverbanks);
1 M € invested to activate 19 local projects and services aimed at generating a positive social impact in the evening and night hours, improving the perception of safety and the quality of life along the Dora river.
