Small Scale Entrepreneurial Support for Community Development

The project has 2 main groups of activities: Entrepreneurial support and Creating supportive ecosystem.
1. The entrepreneurial support includes:
• Financial support for acquiring land, short/long-term assets for extending the support provided to existing and new businesses in Plovdiv area. The money come from the already accumulated revolving fund of our foundation.
• Providing support to get access to EU and National Sources. Our experience proves that this is an extremely effective tool to allow beneficiaries to attract sustainable amount of public money for supporting their business development.
• On-the-spot agro-consultancy and economic, technical and legal consultancy support. The core of this support is the individual consultations.
• Training of beneficiaries for increasing their knowledge basis, we are offering short specialized trainings in agriculture and business management. These trainings focus on issues of general interest to a big number of supported businesses (protection against plant diseases, pest, rules for access to direct payments).
• Support of innovative initiatives. We stimulate the implementation of innovations for increasing the competitiveness of the supported small businesses. Special attention is paid to bio-practices such as crop rotation, choice of varieties (resistant to pests and natural conditions), using manure (biofertiliser); drip irrigation, plastic cover on the greenhouses for better temperature regulation, plastic cover on the greenhouses for blinding pests, insecticide nets, traps for the insects, meteorological stations and software for predicting diseases.
• Farm4us.eu platform development. This specialized advisory platform, started in 2019 proved to be a useful and interactive support tool to many people, not just from Plovdiv region. ( http://farm4us.eu/)
• Current web site support. The web site allows keeping the information flow to external and internal stakeholders. For 2024 we have 8482 visits on the web site. (https://landsourceofincome.org/en/)

2. Creating supportive ecosystem includes:
• Establishing partnership with local stakeholders. The aims is to build regional support ecosystem, facilitating the process of discussing ideas and suggestions for potential changes in legislation, administrative practices and procedures, imposed standards, etc.
• Organizing national round table discussion. The main aim of the event is to bring on board national and regional stakeholders (Ministry of Agriculture and its bodies, District Administrations, Municipal authorities, Academic institutions, civil society structures, businesses, professionals, etc.) for supporting measures in favour of the small agricultural producers
• Annual scientific conference for family business. It aims at involving the scientific community in the process of supporting small businesses in the rural areas. This is the only scientific conferences in Bulgaria focused on Family business development in rural areas. We started this event in 2017 and it is organized in partnership with the Agricultural University in Plovdiv and the Entrepreneurship Centre at Plovdiv Branch of Technical University Sofia.
