Holistic approach of accompanying measures and services for people living below the poverty line in West Athens within the FEAD framework.

This program wanted to plan overall for all partners of the Social Partnership and to propose a planned and holistic way of providing supportive accompanying services to people living below the poverty line and to their families and to propose a way of utilizing the Accompanying Services financed by the European Union’s food and material assistance program ( FEAD ).
West Athens, which includes approximately 500,000 inhabitants, there are approximately 26,000 families living below the poverty line ( over 50,000 individuals) , of whom 14,000 are children up to 14 years of age.
The Food and material assistance program provided, in addition to food, the provision of accompanying services to these beneficiaries.
ASDA as lead partner of the social network of West Athens, in collaboration with the social services of the 8 Municipalities members, planned and implemented the accompanying services were provided to the beneficiaries of the Project in order to have the maximum and effective absorption of available resources for the benefit of these vulnerable groups.
Specifically, the approach were organized in stages, from the initial stage of diagnosing needs through questionnaires, processing and utilizing these questionnaires, referrals to specialist scientists and planning and implementing actions for which the beneficiaries had expressed interest and the need and goal that these actions served had been identified.
Thus, numerous diverse, targeted and welcome services were provided with great success and participation by the beneficiaries, which we mention as an example:
•Parental counseling & psychological support (information on addressing speech problems & learning difficulties / prevention)
•Management of school failure / stress management / management of school bullying phenomena
•Prevention, counseling intervention and awareness-raising services on child psychiatric issues
•Career counseling
•Counseling on healthy eating issues
•Counseling on childhood obesity and eating disorders
•Planning and organization of workshops, with relevant topics.
•Children's Creative Activities and Art Workshops
•Sports activities (team/individual sports, visits to sports venues)
•Experiential puppetry and theater workshops for preschool and school-age children
