Gardener's Stitch

Transformable Gardener's Collection and "Gardener's Stitch" Training

The social innovation created by Public Institution ""Menų terasa"" is not merely a clothing collection, but a comprehensive creative and educational platform that combines functional design, ecological awareness, and community empowerment. This innovation, consisting of the transformable gardener's collection and the "Gardener's Stitch" educational training, is a direct response to the problem of excessive consumption and aims to gather and activate the community of women who engage in gardening in their leisure time.

The collection, designed for women gardeners, features innovative design solutions that ensure maximum clothing functionality and durability. The apparel design is transformable – with adjustable length, detachable pockets, adaptable sizing, and convertible details that allow the clothes to be worn in various ways and adapted to different weather conditions or purposes. This flexibility reduces the need to own a large quantity of clothing, thereby contributing to the reduction of consumerism and promoting a sustainable clothing culture.

The educational part of the program, "Gardener's Stitch" is the heart of this innovation. It relies on simple sewing instructions and educational video tutorials, providing members of the community with a practical opportunity to acquire sewing skills. The main principle of the training is sustainability: participants are encouraged and taught to sew the collection's garments themselves using old fabrics, remnants, or other existing materials. This not only practically contributes to the application of circular economy principles but also increases women's pride in their creations, empowers them to create independently, and fosters creativity and aesthetic sensibility.

Thus, this social innovation operates on several levels: it addresses environmental issues through sustainable design solutions that do not require excessive consumption, transfers design knowledge to community members through education, and reinforces the position of VšĮ "Menų terasa" as an example of social entrepreneurship where creativity, entrepreneurship, and community spirit meet.
