From farm to fork: a social chain of food aid

Aligned with 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the French Food Banks Federation takes action to enable everyone to receive sufficient quantities of nutritious foods. It gathers 79 food banks in France, supporting 2.4 million people.

Aiming to diversify its supplies while reinforcing its cooperation with the agricultural sector, the French Food Banks Federation has built a solidarity-based food supply chain. Our project, From farm to fork: a social chain of food aid, in partnership with “Le Réseau Cocagne”, which develops and runs a network of organic farms promoting social and professional integration, gives access to fresh, local and high-quality products to the most deprived populations.

The project consolidates a socially inclusive food supply chain of fruit and vegetables produced by farmers in an Single Insertion Contract and dedicated to food banks’ beneficiaries. In 2024, 420 tonnes of fruits and vegetables were exchanged between 52 gardens and 38 food banks.
