Digital Innovation Incubator

The Digital Innovation Incubator (DII) is an initiative from Innovation Institute and Center from Croatia designed to unlock the innovation potential of students by connecting them with real-world business challenges provided by leading companies. It operates as an online platform that brings together students, educators, companies, and academic experts to foster creative problem-solving and develop future skills through structured education, mentorship, and project-based competition. Over 8,500 students from over 100 various cities in Croatia and more than 120 universities and 300 schools have participated, developing over 600 innovation projects with measurable impact. The incubator emphasizes equal access, inclusion, and collaboration across disciplines and geographies. Its most recent innovation includes the "Human vs. AI" challenge, where students compete directly with artificial intelligence in creative thinking tasks, building both innovation capacity and future readiness. The project is scalable, transferable across the EU, and offers a model for integrating education, employment, and digital transformation.

Approximately half of the total budget is dedicated to organizing and delivering the program, including development of educational content, digital infrastructure, coordination of partnerships, communications, national outreach, and the production of the final pitch event. The remaining quarter is used to cover the salaries and operational costs of the core project team, ensuring consistent quality, stakeholder engagement, and smooth execution throughout the year. This balanced and efficient distribution of resources enables the incubator to deliver high-impact outcomes with a modest and scalable financial footprint.
