CogHelp – Interactive Educational Tool for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities

CogHelp is an interactive digital learning platform designed to support the education and autonomy of persons with intellectual disabilities. It combines adaptive learning algorithms, gamified content, and accessible interfaces to improve users’ cognitive, literacy, and life management skills. The system provides a learning experience supported by gamification elements, which develops not only basic skills (e.g., money management, pattern recognition), but also cognitive abilities (e.g., decision-making, memory). The tool features five core modules covering real-life scenarios, basic numeracy and literacy, and personal finance. It increases users’ independence and learning efficiency, contributing to social inclusion and employment potential. The platform is aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of quality education (SDG 4) and social inclusion (SDG 10).
CogHelp is developed based on cognitive load theory (CLT) and multimodal learning strategies, combining visual, auditory, and interactive elements. AI-based learning algorithms continuously analyse student performance and modify learning paths accordingly, so the system continuously adapts to the users' abilities.
The platform is built on a scalable, modular architecture that uses the following technological solutions:
• Backend: Python-based REST API (Django, Flask);
• Frontend: React.js, Vue.js;
• Database: PostgreSQL és MongoDB;
• AI: Machine learning models to support adaptive learning mechanisms;
• WebRTC: Providing remote mentoring opportunities.

The system operates with GDPR-compliant data management and cybersecurity solutions
