Problem addressed
Today in France, nearly 13 million people face mobility difficulties. One in three French people also say they have had to turn down a job opportunity because of travel problems.
Innovative solution
Since 2010, our mission has been to support people in vulnerable circumstances by offering them tailored transport solutions. Our aim is to ensure that a lack of transport is no longer a barrier to accessing, returning to or retaining employment, but also to independence and maintaining a social life.
Our support is based on four main areas of activity:
1. Vehicle hire at subsidised rates;
2. Vehicle maintenance and repairs at our Social Integration Workshop and our community garage, both located in Aiguillon;
3. Social Transport Services (TUS);
4. Vehicle sales.
This social micro-transport service is aimed at people facing mobility difficulties, particularly older people, those with visual impairments or those with reduced independence. It enables them to access essential everyday services: medical appointments, healthcare, administrative procedures, access to entitlements, shopping or activities that help maintain social connections.
Our entire fleet consists of donated vehicles. We collect cars that are no longer needed by private individuals, businesses or local authorities, and then repair them at our Social Integration Workshop.
Each vehicle is thus given a new lease of life and a new social purpose, enabling people to travel to work, attend training courses, access healthcare or maintain their independence.

Potential for mainstreaming
The APREVA project is set to expand. Indeed, since 2010, APREVA has set up nine local centres in the Lot-et-Garonne department, a secondary school has been opened in Gironde, and some regions are already considering replicating the project in their own areas. To facilitate this expansion, a national federation could bring together all the regional associations.
APREVA is a laureate of the 2014–2015 cohort of the P'INS scale-up support programme, jointly run by Fondation Macif and Avise.
