The first episode of the Euronews ‘Make It Work’ series on Social Europe in partnership with the European Commission’s Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, features skills for the future. It showcases the role the Pact for Skills and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) play in creating a Union of Skills.

Travel to Andalusia to the Javier Imbroda Public Integrated VET Centre near Seville, where students are embracing new career paths in the aerospace industry.

For Sonia Parrado Garcia, the centre offers a fresh start after many years in the clothing industry. And for aspiring professional Pablo Paredes Cayuso, it represents a launchpad to his dream job.

The training centre is Andalusia’s largest educational infrastructure project in recent years. Eulogio Garcia Martinez, the Centre’s director, discusses how EU funding, notably ESF+, is revolutionising training quality and fostering innovative partnerships with companies.

Since its inception in 2020, the Pact for Skills has helped to provide skills training to 6.1 million workers, with a goal to reach 25 million by 2030. Melanie Durth, innovation manager at the Andalusia Aerospace Cluster, says that the Pact for Skills is a great opportunity to work together across Europe on developing new abilities for the industry.
